Two Kinds of People

There are two kinds of people who "aren't creative."

1) People who aren't creative because they are afraid they will fail. "What if I try to make something and it's not good enough?" Guess what. It'll never be good enough. Every single one of the creative people you know struggles with wondering if what they're making is good enough, and we all have ways we wish we were better. Turns out, the only way to get better is to do the work. So go do it.

2) People who aren't creative because they are afraid they will succeed. This one is even more scary. Because if you try being creative, and you are successful, that means you're going to have to do it again, and again, and then you're going to have to do it better. No more excuses. When there's a new problem to solve, you can no longer say, "This is a problem for creative people and I'm not one of them, so I don't need to worry about it." Because now, you are a creative person and you have a responsibility to bring that creativity to the table when it's needed. You'll have new challenges to face, new expectations to meet. And that's scary. So you hide behind the idea that you're not creative when in reality you have just as much potential as the next person.

Guess what. We're on to you. Go out and do the work.
